On August 17, the Chinese Journalists Association hosted the “2024 Cultural and Creative Industry Reporting Award” (CCIR Award) Ceremony, where host Chih-Ping Wan of the Taipei Broadcasting Station was honored with the Radio News Reporting Award for the program Listening, Wandering – Urban Soundscape Artists. The program, which explores the diverse sounds of the city, stood out as one of the most notable entries this year.

According to the Taipei Broadcasting Station (TBS) highlighted that the Listening, Wandering program aims to guide listeners in exploring every corner of the city through sound, uncovering the “hidden art of sound.” Sound is an essential part of everyday life, yet it is often overlooked. The program shares the stories and profound emotions behind these sounds, helping listeners connect with them and further promoting the development of sound performance art, transforming the city’s auditory landscape into meaningful cultural heritage.

Program host Chih-Ping Wan noted that the uniqueness of Listening, Wandering lies in its emphasis on sound performance art and its demonstration of how sound can become a key element of the cultural and creative industries. She expressed her gratitude for the support and recognition from both the audience and the CCIR Award’s judging panel. Listening, Wandering covers a range of content, including street performances, live concerts, and the works of sound artists. Looking ahead, the program aspires to continue exploring the world of sound, bringing more beautiful and unique auditory experiences to its audience, and uncovering the endless creativity and joy that sound can bring to life.
