The Federation of Taiwan Pharmacists Associations presented the “2025 Taiwan Pharmaceutical Reporting Awards” on November 30, and Taipei Broadcasting Station (TBS) once again delivered an outstanding performance. Hosted by Wei-Hua Lin, the program Happy Life in Taipei won the Merit Award (Audio Category) for its special segment “Pharmacist at My Home – Medication Safety Series – ‘Chinese Medi-cine and Western Medicine Are Both Medicine: What Pharmacists Worry About.’” Meanwhile, LOHAS and Health, hosted by Ming-Hui Chou, received the Excellence Award (Audio Category) for its episode “What Drivers Must Know About ‘Medication.’”

According to TBS, the award-winning program Happy Life in Taipei is dedicated to promoting correct medication use and sharing up-to-date pharmaceutical knowledge, while encouraging the public to make full use of consultation services offered by hospital and community pharmacists. Host Wei-Hua Lin ex-plained that the original purpose of producing the “Pharmacist at My Home” segment stemmed from con-cern for public health issues and a desire to explore uncertainties surrounding medication use. The program delivers professional medical knowledge in an accessible way, helping the public gain a deeper understand-ing of “pharmaceutical care.” This award-winning episode specifically addressed the newly added inter-pretive directive under Article 103, Paragraph 2 of the Pharmaceutical Affairs Act, explaining its implica-tions for medication safety and pharmacists’ concerns. Lin emphasized that medication safety is not only a matter of protecting lives and health, but also a fundamental safeguard against the waste of medical re-sources.

Host Ming-Hui Chou of LOHAS and Health pointed out that while the dangers of drunk driving are wide-ly recognized, many people overlook the fact that certain medications can also impair attention and reac-tion time, posing serious risks when driving. “Through this report, we hope to raise public awareness of safe medication use, firmly reject drug-impaired driving, and protect the lives of ourselves and others,” Chou said. “I am deeply grateful for the recognition from the judges, as well as the support of the Federa-tion of Taiwan Pharmacists Associations and the pharmacists who participated in our interviews.” She added that LOHAS and Health will continue to promote proper medication practices on TBS to safeguard public health.

Founded in 1961, URTI (International Radio and Television Union) began holding the International Radio Grand Prix in 1989, offering a different competition theme each year. This year’s ten shortlisted programs come from Argentina, Belgium, Cameroon, France, Germany, Iran, and Taiwan.

The 2025 theme is “Radio and Climate Change.” SDGs Action Taker!, hosted by DJ Lydia Chen, has spent years cultivating sustainability awareness among young audiences. Being selected as one of only ten finalists worldwide marks a milestone that brings global attention to Taipei’s efforts toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

“SDGs Action Taker! has been a regular children’s program at TBS for three years,” said DJ Lydia, noting that the goal is to bring sustainability into children’s everyday lives. “A children’s program should be more than just a children’s program. We hope to accompany SDGs Action Takers of all ages, hear sustainability in daily life, love our planet, and learn English together, connecting with education internationally and inspiring young listeners to care for themselves, others, the environment, and the world.”

This year’s shortlisted episode invited two pairs of siblings from two families. Through their family travel experiences, the program guided listeners to explore different modes of transportation and introduced the concept of carbon footprints from the perspective of “Little SDGs Action Takers.” Coinciding with the 10th anniversary of the Paris Agreement, the episode incorporated climate change discussions and explored ways to support the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.

“At TBS, we hope to use radio as a channel that keeps listeners moving forward with sustainability, allowing the SDGs to become part of daily life,” explained station director Shao-chien Hu. “Through this program, we want future adults to encounter sustainability messages outside formal education and, in turn, motivate fellow SDGs Action Takers to take action and contribute to sustainable development.”

Long committed to showcasing the work of women composers and raising awareness of gender-related topics in the music world, Liu described her path as “a lonely journey, yet one bound by serendipity and shared purpose.” She believes the value of media lies not solely in ratings or clicks, but in the artistic substance that forms the foundation of a meaningful music program. Liu shared that the award-winning segment “Music Is a Weapon” took over seven months to prepare and produce. Specially created to commemorate National Women Support Women Day on December 1, the feature aimed to convey the stories and artistic voices of eight Ukrainian women composers in a way that was coherent and deeply resonant—not just a string of soundbites, but a narrative that captured their strength, context, and creativity. “Art, in its essence, is the gentlest yet most powerful call for peace,” Liu emphasized. One of the greatest challenges was the linguistic complexity of the interviews. Notably, an interview with Dr. Karmella Tsepkolenko was conducted in Ukrainian, requiring both English and Chinese translation before it could be shared with audiences—a meticulous and demanding process that exemplifies the program’s commitment to integrity and depth.

Deputy Station Director Pei-Wei Lee, who traveled to the United States to accept the award on behalf of the team, remarked: “Since its debut in 2023, Thousand Miles, Talks About Music has featured inspiring life stories and contributions of musicians from around the globe now based in Taiwan. Host Mali Liu, a seasoned music professional and media figure, has been nominated multiple times for Taiwan’s prestigious Golden Bell Awards, and has received accolades such as “Best Arts and Culture Program,” “Best Non-Pop Music Program,” and “Best Non-Pop Music Program Host.”

At the press conference following the 50th Annual Gracie Awards, held at the OCAC in El Monte on May 21, Mark Te-Yuan Chien, the Director of the Taiwan Academy in Los Angeles (fifth left) expressed congratulations.

The event’s name, “Mapolong Kita,” is derived from the Amis words “Mapolong,” meaning “gather together,” and “Kita,” meaning “we” or “everyone,” symbolizing the idea of “Gathering Together.” The event will be hosted by Golden Bell Award-winning hosts Caciu, Cihek Dongi, veteran host Wu Sai, and folk music icon Li Ming-Te. The Taipei Broadcasting Station (TBS) noted that the award-winning “Pharmacist at Home” segment has been produced since 2017, airing every Tuesday at 10 AM. The program provides listeners with appropriate medication use and medication information and promotes the use of consultation services offered by hospital and community pharmacists. The segment also features dramatized scenarios based on real-life experiences shared by pharmacists, making the content more relatable and enhancing the sense of immediacy for the audience.

The Federation of Taiwan Pharmacists Associations held its members’ representative assembly and the 2024 Taiwan Pharmaceutical Reporting Awards ceremony on the evening of July 14.

Each broadcasting studio is equipped with two cameras positioned at different angles, controlled by hosts via a desktop interface. This setup provides viewers with more vivid and dynamic livestream visuals.

Hu emphasized that these upgrades were executed seamlessly, encompassing the complete overhaul of broadcasting studios, broadcast systems, the main control room, the machine room, and power distribution lines.
